Lesson 27: Define Activities
Let’s see all the details about the Define Activities process.
Optional Extra Activities
Note: these extra activities are optional, and not necessary for your certification.
The maximum duration of activities, as suggested in many resources, is 44 working days (~2 calendar months). PMI’s practical standard for scheduling says that activity durations should not be longer than two control periods. So, if you’re controlling the project every month (very common), then activities should not be longer than two months.
Maybe you can check the 14-Point Schedule Assessment from DCMA or the Planning and Scheduling Excellence Guide (PASEG) to familiarize yourself with some of these guidelines.
