Lesson 01: Introduction
Welcome to the course!
This first lesson is just an introduction that covers some basic information about the course and the certification program.
Based on AXELOS PRINCE2® material. Reproduced under licence from AXELOS. All rights reserved.
Good. We’ll start discussing principles in the next lesson. The next lesson is about the overall principles concept, as well as the “ensure continued business justification” and “learn from experience” principles.
Can you explain why principles are important in PRINCE2? Can you describe what the “ensure continued business justification” and “learn from experience” principles are about?
Maybe you can spend a few minutes looking them up in the manual before taking the lesson.
The manual
As mentioned, you need to have a copy of the official PRINCE2 manual, titled “PRINCE2® 7 Managing Successful Projects” (ISBN 9925344603). If you have taken the PRINCE2 Foundation exam recently, you probably have a copy of the ebook in your exam platform. Otherwise, you can choose one of these options:
- Buy a printed version of the manual from PeopleCert or any online bookstore
- Buy an electronic version of the manual from PeopleCert
Both options can be used in your open book exam. The online version gives you the option to search phrases, which makes it easier, however, its technical difficulties in the invigilated exams make some people more comfortable using the printed version.

About your trainer, Nader K. Rad
I started working with projects about 27 years ago: first, as a project planner in construction projects, and then I moved to large process-plant projects. In parallel, I was also involved in IT projects and startups.
I gradually moved from project planning into the wider project management domain by helping project managers and companies improve their project, program, and portfolio management systems.
Nowadays, I’m spending most of my time developing eLearning courses in our small company, Management Plaza, writing books (about 50 of them so far), and contributing to standards:
- PRINCE2® 6th edition: consultant
- PRINCE2 Agile® 1st edition: consultant
- MSP® 5th edition: consultant
- PMBOK® Guide 7th edition: core development team
- P3.express: Core development team
